Welcome to TimeCamp Help!

Add & Track time

Timesheet is one of the main sections in TimeCamp where you can track time to your projects, create and edit time entries and optionally add notes or tags for better categorizing. We prepared two types of timesheets: day view and calendar view.

Timesheet is available for all subscription plans and all account roles.

The day timesheet is a textual version where you can view more detailed time entries

The calendar timesheet is a graphical version where you can easily view and modify the entire week.

Day Timesheet

Let's start with creating a new entry. There are two options here: add time manually and track time in real-time.

Please keep in mind that real-time tracking is possible only for the current day. If you would like to add time to the past or future days you can do it only manually.

To create a new time entry you need to fill up the top bar and add time. Select the task you’d like to add time to. Next, enter ‘from’ – ‘to’ time values (or define the duration time) and click on the green button Add time entry.

If you would like to fill in your Timesheet for the past or future days, use the Date range filter to select the day you'd like to edit.

To track time in real-time change the view to the timer. To do this, simply click the “Start timer” link next to the green button. Next, select a task and start measuring time with a single click.

To go back to manually creating entries click the “Add manually” link.

After you finished working on a task, don’t forget to stop the timer. Closing a web application or turning off your computer won’t stop the running timer.

Once your timesheet is filled up you can hover your mouse over a specific entry and find some additional options:

  1. shows computer activities assigned to this entry (only if you use the TimeCamp desktop app)

  2. shows the report to all-time tracked on this task

  3. changes the date of this entry

  4. opens time entry history

  5. makes the entry billable/non-billable. Handy if you want to invoice tracked time later

  6. clone time entry within a selected day

  7. delete a selected time entry

Once an entry is deleted the action can’t be undone and data can’t be restored.

You can also change assigned tasks, and add tags and notes to your entries at any time. To change a task, simply click on it on your time entry and select a different one from the list.

Tags can be added only if the Tag list was created first. Please take a look at this article to learn more about creating and assigning tags.

As you’ve already noticed for those who use the desktop application there is additional functionality to review registered computer activities under the time entry. You will also find a green timeline on the Timesheet which shows the time you were working on the computer:

Calendar Timesheet

A calendar timesheet is a more graphical type of view that remains a calendar board. It allows you to quickly and easily add time for a specific timeframe during the desired day.

Just as with the Day Timesheet, you can use two ways of creating time entries: adding time manually and real-time tracking.

Please keep in mind that real-time tracking is possible only for the current day. If you would like to add time to the past or future days you can do it only manually.

To fill up the calendar timesheet first, activate a specific day by clicking on its column, so the focus of the timesheet will be changed to a selected day. Next, click on the time you’d like your entry to start, and still holding the mouse button, drag the cursor down. Release the button when ready and fill out the information such as task and optionally notes or tags. You can also modify the exact timeframes of entry in the editor panel

If you would like to fill in your Timesheet for the past or future days, use the Date range filter to select the week you'd like to edit.

The calendar view also allows you to track time in real time. If you’re in the current week’s view, the current hour has a green Start timer button. Simply click on it and you’re good to go. Select a task, add notes or tags and when you’re done with tracking, click the Stop tracking button and a new entry will be ready.

To open the editor panel of entry just click on it. Here you’ll find almost the same options as  in a day view:

  1. the report to all-time tracked on this task

  2. open time entry history

  3. delete a selected time entry

  4. makes the entry billable/non-billable

  5. change the color of the task

Once an entry is deleted the action can’t be undone and data can’t be restored.

If you use the desktop app to register computer time and activities you’ll notice the second column next to your time entries. The right column is a quick overview of activities that were gathered by the TimeCamp desktop application during your work:
